GameDrift is having a monthly column featuring a Gamer Girl and her thoughts/history of gaming. It's a pretty good read, and if you are a female and would like to be featured next month, reply to the post.

My name is Alison and I am a gamer girl. I’m not totally “hardcore” as probably some of you are, but if I had a choice, I would always have a controller in hand.

They are trying to prove to all the blind idiots out there that there are indeed girls on the internet/games

i think its because of the stereo-typical gamer image. we' are all supposed to either be little kids or 35 year old balding losers, living in our parents basement. and when you throw a kinda cute gamer girl into the mix it shakes up people's perception of the gaming community. that and the people who are little kids or 35 year old balding losers prolly dont have a lot in common with most girls. so being able to talk to some through a video game probably brightens there otherwise pathetic lives.

As a fellow gamer girl, it's odd being in a man's world. Of all my RL friends, I am the only one who has ever picked up a controller. I say: keep up the writing...

It's funny to see that there is mild sexism in gaming culture. Anyway, keep writing, it's great to hear from writers of the opposite sex who aren't afraid to admit it!
