That VideoGame Blog's Brandon Austin wonders why there's no usual rushed, crappy videogame tie in for the upcoming The Dark Knight. A little IGN slip-up gives hope there still could be one in development.

As we approach July 18th, there seems to be one thing all critics, fans, and soccer moms (yes, soccer moms) can agree on….The Dark Knight will indeed kick much ass. But arguably one of the most remarkable aspects of this film has to be evident to gamers: There is no video game tie-in for this soon to be summer blockbuster. I don’t see this necessarily as a bad thing, but I must ask — Why?

I think this is a good thing. Not every movie needs a video game tie-in.

Good. It isn't needed and it'll be 100% not good ever.

I'm kinda surprised though, as there was a Batman Begins game. (It wasn't that bad either)

Unless Heath Ledger did voice work for a Dark Knight game we know nothing about then it would fail as i would hope Bale and the rest would add their voice talents to the game... The game would probably ruin the movie in some way.

There are better voice talents out there for Batman characters than the movie cast.

I would much rather them make a good batman game rather than one that was solely based around the movie. In all honesty the Batman franchise would be an easy game to pull off it they had the right people doing it. Imagine a game where Gotham is free roaming and you have to use your stealth/detective skills to progress the story line rather than just a straight beat 'em up.

Thank God. The game would have a 99.99% Chance of sucking anyway. =/

Bah. We've come to a point where movie games are expected now, around the time a movie comes out. Not needed for this, even though TDK looks very promising.

Simple, the game would spoil the movie.

Batman Begins was an alright game, imo. I liked the Batmobile level, and the whole 'fear factor' bit.

If they could improve (vastly) on what they started, it could be a decent movie-adaptation of a game.

The best movideogame was King Kong. They don't get much better than that, and it might be the best decision.

Personally I rather not have a batman game, unless the people do it right. And there's a lot of devs being lazy with these types of games.

The game Goldeneye 007 was released 2 and a half years after the movie. Worth it?

I guess some tool didn't like you saying King Kong was the best movie game, I don't know.

People are pathetic immature morons who I think just thumb people down for the sake of it.

It wasn't for the sake of it, someone just disagreed with your comment that's all. Which is what the system is for
