Sony has no plans for a PS3 price cut

With the Xbox 360 recieving a price cut this month, many gamers were left wondering if the PS3 was soon to follow. But if you were hoping to pick up a slightly cheaper PS3 in future, you might be waiting for a while. Sony has no intention of dropping the console's price ...

Sony has no plan to cut the price of its PlayStation 3 game console, the company's chief financial officer Nobuyuki Oneda said Friday.

"This year, our strategy is not to sell more quantity for PS3 but to concentrate on profitability," Oneda told a forum in Singapore. "Our plan is not to reduce the price."

His comments followed a report in the Wall Street Journal which said Microsoft plans to cut the price on a popular model of its Xbox 360 game console in an effort to boost sales in the face of stronger competition from rival Sony.

    I hope they cut it by the time GT5 comes out because that's around when I plan on getting one. If not then I might wait a little while longer.

      Just buy it. It's not really THAT expensive. If you want it for GT5, that's plenty reason to spend that much money.

      There's plenty of games for you to get for the PS3 besides GT5, MGS4, Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank perhaps?

        No. If I gave a shit about those games I would have gotten a PS3 a while ago. I may not even buy one now. It's juse one game, I can live without. I didn't even play GT4 and Forza 3 will probably happen eventually. I like the Forza series alot better anyways. GT5 was just going to fill the void until more PS3 games came out but I'm not seeing anything in the near future. Maybe next year.

    Don't Sony say this every E3 and then when Microsoft go "I halve thy price" Sony a week later are like "i know we like umm said like umm we wouldn't cut the price but like umm Microsoft did so heres umm a new SKU and a $20 price cut" this is nothing new lol.

    They specifically said they are doing this just for profit, and losing exclusives certainly isn't a good thing. If they won't drop it now for profit what makes you think they would have dropped it at E3? What odds did you factor in?

    If anything you are the troll here because two seperate people have said something negative about PS3 and you have gone on the defensive calling them trolls and you have nothing else to say.

    There has been enough price cuts for the PS3. It used to be $600 and now it's down to 400-450. Isn't that good enough?

      In fact, odds are they probably will drop the price at E3.
