So it seems the Wii is getting a rumble pack of it's own, and also putting more sensitivity and feedback into their patented motion controller. Should be interesting to see how this will affect new and old titles alike.

Nintendo's upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo’s commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.

Sorry, it was more of a metaphor of it being like the expansion rumble pack of our time, not literally a rumble pack like back in the Nintendo64 days.

Its an upgrade, just like any console recieves. As long as it doesn't cost too much, it should be very good for the Wii.

While this is phenomenal, if used properly by devs, this does bring up a question: how do you integrate the nunchuk into the equation? A lot of games, like Red Steel, could have benefited from having this piece of hardware available to the developers.

That is a good point. Nintendo will either have to put a port on the back of this device, or make wireless nunchucks of some sort.

The picture looks like there is a port on the back of the device already.

Yeah, I think you're right. There seems to be a socket for the nunchuk with a removable protector a la the DS Lite's GBA port. It would be rather absurd of Nintendo to ditch the nunchuk since it's used so often for moving in most games.

My only concern now is that Nintendo treats their fans right and not rip them off of another 20 buck for a peripheral. I'd be willing to pay 10 bucks max for something which should have been in the original controller. Though I think they might bundle it up with a game like they did with Wii Play.

Can that thing connect to the Nunchuck? Because if it can't, there's really no point in buying it since every worthwhile game on the Wii uses Wii Mote + Nunchuck.
