Microsoft E3 Conference: Final Fantasy XIII Confirmed for Xbox 360

To close out Microsoft's E3 conference, Square Enix president Yoichi Wada came out again, interrupting Don Mattrick, after giving his presentation on Infinite Undiscovery, Star Ocean 4 and Last Remnant. What did he come out for?

Final Fantasy XIII will be released on the Xbox 360. Accompanied with a trailer.

No release date was given.

    The trailer was old. First off all :

    I am beyond pissed. I just spend £300 on a console that now has no exclusive games that I am really interested in.

    Yep it's true. Was watching the conference myself, damn what a bombshell.

    Sony better have some good plans up for their conference tomorrow, or they are screwed. Quite a few PS3 owners bought the system for the FF franchise.

      I think Sony are rewriting and re-editing footage of whatever they have in-game of FF XIII and are going to try and proove that the PS3 version looks better lol.

    Holy shit... that's another RPG to add to my list! That must have been one of the unannounced main exclusives that Microsoft was planning for E3.

    Fanboys on the G4 forums are crying like the world has ended, and I laugh maliciously because I recall their arguments of, "You'll see, Sony will own when Final Fantasy comes out."

    Wow, it's like people have no idea Square announced last year that FF13 wouldn't be exclusive. That, or they blocked it out.

    What were they expecting? FF13 on the Wii? Old news and wishful thinking, delicious.

    EDIT: Apparently the announcement was just rumors, as others have stated. I'm still pretty sure I read it somewhere... x(

      I don't think that they announced anything like that...they may have thrown hints here and there, spurring rumours and such (much like MGS4 on 360 rumours), but that's about it. SE denied multiplatform for FFXIII for over a year now, all to build up to this shocker. And there's a difference between saying something and taking action.

        No, it was a pretty sure thing. Neoseeker reported it, among other news sites.

        EDIT: Can't find the news in Neo's archives, but I stand by the announcement (I swear I'm not crazy!). If it really was denied by Square, then wow, way to backtrack for SE.

          I could've sworn that the only thing regarding any sort exclusivity that they said was that the whole Fabula Nova Crystalis group of games won't be restricted to one console.

      Square never said that to my knowledge. All the news I've been hearing about consoles FF13 would be on until today has been that it was exclusively for the PS3.

    Am I going to be one of the idiots left holding onto the PS3 like a frickin' life raft in a sea of bullshit?! Congrats 360 owners. Looks like there will not be such thing as exclusives in the future. I just hope PS3 recovers from this blow.

    Seriously, got my Xbox a while ago and was not prepared to buy a PS3 just to get FF13. I thought I was going to miss out on it completely, brilliant.

    Great... Another reason as to why I bought PS3 over 360 gone. I really hope that other exclusives will boost the sales of PS3 enough for it to get new and better games, otherwise Sony is pretty much screwed in this console war.

    It finally happened, Sony has lost the console war. Brilliant. Nice way to *bleep* up your fanbase Sony and SE. NOw I will say with certainty that the PS3 will never compete if anything this is the Coup De Grace for the PS3.

    Well I just pretty much wasted my time investing in the PS3.

    I find this hard to believe, especially considering this game is supposed to have the White Engine, developed with the PS3 in mind....

    I'll wait until there is a proper press release that everyone can see, not just E3-ers >_>

      Plus, the White Engine ( Now renamed " Crystal Tools " ) has been a multi-platform engine for awhile now.

        Gears, Halo, Crackdown, Prey and all that I personally think were nothing special and would consider going down to the level of saying they were poor though they got this high array of praise and following from people which I never understood.

        Okay you got me, I never played Fable so I could not comment on that but then again that could have been good, right?

        Undignified or not I don't care, atm my personal believe is that the Xbox 360 has the most boring array of games possible for myself in which non of them interest me as they were poorly designed and even more has a non existent story line.

        There was no "fanboyism" involved there, it is just what I though of the games I played when I owned my 360 and I have stuck to that view on the games I played ever since.

    When Xenctuary told me about this I just rolled my eyes as a little piece of me died and floated away to gamer heaven. When you hear the words "Final Fantasy" What do you think? Sony, Playstation, Nintendo or (S)NES. Never do you think Microsoft, and XBOX.

    Sony has had a very good franchise of exclusivity with the FF series. I see this as something that will hurt Sony, but, not that bad. I've been reading that this is the straw that breaks Sony and the PS3. That, the PS3 is now "doomed". Realistically, this will not kill the PS3. It will hurt Sony but it definately wont be a console killer.

    I feel that Squeenix doesn't really care about their North American fanbase like they do with their Japanese fans. Example can be seen that there will be no 360 port in Japan, only in North America and Europe (I can't comment on their love for EU or not because I don't take note of EU news).

    This bit of news definately makes me take a second thought on purchasing a Collectors Edition for the game, if there is one. As a fan I feel it wrong for them to all of a sudden go from a PS3 exclusive to sharing the wealth with the competitor. I'm thinking it has more to do with the almighty dollar than it does keeping up with their fanbase (aside from Japan's). I could care less if from day one they said it would be on the 360 as well. It's just disappointing to see SE give in to $$ and of all things to only have this apply to NA/EU and not to JP.

        true, but it's PC version is the most commonly known. It's not too much of a common knowledge that FFXI is also on the 360 and PS2, this includes the expansions as well.

        Well it is sorta a big deal, Final Fantasy was one of the most notable exclusives Sony had. Let's run down the list of other games that have jumped the boat: Devil May Cry, Grand Theft Auto, and there are others, and now Final Fantasy joins them.

    Also how many more exclusives games will turn multiplatform?
    Will it be LBP? Will it be KZ2? Or perhaps Kingdom Hearts 3, or maybe God of War 3? This is bad news, like I said this just put fears in my and every PS owners eyes. Especially when SE and Sony literally kept saying and showing a video that FF13 was exclusive. And the whole "Were going to pay future titles, and exclusives to stay as an exclusive". Seems like broken words and empty promises to me.

      Final Fantasy was never guaranteed to be an exclusive, it was only assumed. Kingdom Hearts is the same way. Same with MGS.

      Games like God of War, Resistance and Motorstorm on the other hand will stay PS3 exclusive. It is published by Sony and the developing studio is owned by Sony.

          I typed "too human demo impressions" and looked at a few forums. No ones saying it's going to be a GOTY contender but the majority seem to be favourable.

          But let's not let that get in the way of your pot shot at an unreleased game that you've obviously not played. ^^
