Microsoft revealed a new part of their 360 OS intergration, a Avatar system. The system is already compatible with some games and every game made by Rare, as well as every game coming out in the future by them. You will be able to customize every part of your Avatar such as hair, arms, hands, etc and they are in full 3D. Avatars will be connected with every user profile and you will even be able to buy different things for your Avatar.
Microsoft announced today a new part of the Microsoft Blade and Xbox OS intergration -- an Avatar system similar to the Nintendo Wii. The system integrates with a variety of games and is also ready for all games by Rare (and in fact were created by Rare for Microsoft.)
Avatars express your persionality -- you can customize hair, clothing and everything else about you. The avatars are fully 3D and are animated in the Blade. This shows up on the user system. You can buy new clothes and other items (including assumedly pay-for-DLC). Avatars are visable right on the frontend and are attached to all user profiles, so your friend list will automatically show the 3D version of your character.

Can't wait to see how they integrate with the new Banjo Kazooie.
Everybody is going to be posting new articles to get contribution points now.
The avatar system is M$'s response to Home and Mii's I suppose? I'm sure they'll improve on it overtime but for now, it's not on my anticipation list.
Like, if there's a Halo save file on your hard drive, you can put a Spartan helmet on your avatar. If you have a Splinter Cell or Rainbow Six file, you can give your guy night-vision goggles. If you have a COD4 file, you can put your guy in a ghilie suit, etc.
Bioshock file lets you look like a Big Daddy !!!
