The new Xbox Live update overhaul is coming this holiday season and will contain many new features that gamers have been wanting for a while. There will be a lot of new console integration with the Xbox.com and Marketplace community, and many new social networking features have also been promised.

It has just been announced at this year’s E3 that the already loved Xbox Live service will receive an update overhaul this holiday season. Expect Facebook/Myspace-like features, Mii-like avatars, and many other new features that the service should have already had. Sure, they may not be the most original, but it is all easily and happily accepted.

Well, the Mii-type avatar we're going to use has already been posted. I wasn't aware of the Facebook/MySpace-like features, though.

    Hopefully they won't suck.

Oh jeez. Get ready if they let people post bulletins and comments like MySpace. Then more drama will come to the XBL service. ;D

After watching the E3 video for this me and my roommate were like "yep...they stole like 30 peoples ideas". Seems like an imitation of other services.

But who really cares apart from tin-foil attired "fan boys"? They're adding more services and features for their consumers, does it matter where those ideas may have come from? I bet not one PlayStation 3 console owner thought the custom soundtracks idea was a disappointment just because it was a "copy". The exact same applies here.

There's a difference between features, necessity and style; if you make a necessity that's already been done before; in this case custom soundtracks (using your own music in game) I don't see where that's a problem.

When it comes to style, if you "steal" ideas how exciting is that? not really. "Ohoho my 360's navigation is like my Mac, oh what's this I can have a 360 Mii?" Anyone can steal an idea. It takes a good company to come up with their own unique style. They had it down with LIVE, but this, it's a bit disappointing.

It's rather hypocritical as well for people to think that this is absolutely fine. If such and such highly anticipated game which you were really looking forward to all of a sudden announced a feature but was a blatant rip from some other game, you would make snide remarks about it or just down right be annoyed, upset, etc. So why not in this case?

It's the "who cares?" attitude that lets companies get away with things like this.

I wouldn't be annoyed at all. It's more value for your money, which at the end of the day is all that matters. Being upset at issues like this makes no sense.

It's more of an annoyance than it is something being upset over.
