Friday the 13th, March 2009 - save the date. Resident Evil 5 is going for a worldwide themed launch date. After even more demos at E3 recently - the buzz surrounding the game is growing even more.

Chief Producer Jun Takeuchi announced the release date for the eagerly anticipated sequel to one of the best games of the last generation. Resident Evil 5 will be launching worldwide on Friday, March 13th 2009 - except in Japan, who get it a day earlier.

The news is a welcome one, especially for die-hard fans who have been waiting a long time ever since the title was announced way back at Microsoft's X05 conference. Now, we just hope they stick to that date. It's not like we haven't been disappointed before with the announcement of a release date for a high profile title at a Microsoft press conference. (For those who don't know, the release date for Grand Theft Auto IV was announced at E3 '06 but got pushed back)

I'm getting ready to pre-order it. I'm glad there's a date now and I can't wait for it to come out.

Same - I love themed releases - though the last one I was supposed to go with was the Halloween release of Manhunt 2 (and that didn't go over too well).

Yet another reason I really need to get around to getting a PS3...

I'm just happy enough that this is coming out for 360.
