After Mircosoft revealed that Final Fantasy 13 was coming to the 360 at their E3 2008 Press Conference, people started to speculate that MGS 4 would also become a 360 game. Jack Tretton, the CEO of SCEA, says bringing MGS 4 over to the 360 would be impossible, partly because of Blu-Ray.
Following fervent speculation that Metal Gear Solid 4 would follow Final Fantasy in becoming a PlayStation-associated brand that moves onto Xbox 360, SCEA CEO Jack Tretton has argued no other console could handle the technical demands of Konamis the Konami title.
Speaking to assembled press at the platform holder's conference in LA earlier today, Tretton added that the Blu-Ray capabilities of PS3 had already seen of HD-DVD and would now see off the companys console competition.

really, "OMFG I HAVE TO GET UP AND PUT A DISK IN!!!!, GOD HELP ME IF WE ACTUALLY HAD TO DO SOME SLIGHT EXERCISE?!?!?!? I THOUGH THIS WAS THE 360 NOT THE *bleep*ING WII!!!!"
Compression =/= dumbing down.
Maybe cut the music, or removal of certain sound effects.
I will buy this for PS3, even if I did have a 360. All I can do now is hope that versus XIII is exclusive.
b. MGS4 likely uses such lazy use of disk space, that it's pretty viable
You should say R3t4ard(I use 1337 speak to avoid censorship). Compression R3t4rds the audio quality.
Not a major hurdle but definitely a annoyance if Konami had to port the game
The flashbacks about the PS1 scene was the one I was referring to. They would have two choices, either cut it or leave it as it is and I doubt Microsft would have want there competitor being advertised in a game on their console. Like I said not a major problem but these little annoyances would make it all the harder to port, unlike in most games where you just copy and paste.
Honestly, I see no need in having to change anything just because of product placement (other than maybe Snake using the sixaxis controller). Wasn't there a soccer game for 360 that had a PS3 advertisement on the sidelines? If they didn't mind that, I could see MS surviving a few Blu-Ray mentions.
Seriously does anyone really believe that Kojima would ride Sony like that then turn around and port the game? You would have to be delirious to expect that to happen.
many thanks
I'd give it a 9.5/10 personally
