NextGen Player recently discovered that the PSN Video Store is region locked - and - Canada among the countries that has been locked out. It looks like online video renting isn't coming to Canada after all.

So as an extremely excited PS3 owner, I rushed home after work today so I could experience the brand spankin' new PSN Video Store. To my surprise, the store (which went live yesterday) was not appearing when I logged into the Playstation Store. After a little investigation, it would seem that the Video Store is region locked, and us Canadians have been locked out.

    DAMMIT >_<

Well, I didn't plan on getting the videos anyhow. Not unless I REALLY wanted to see a given video, and it had a subtitle option >_>

I'm sure Canada (and other regions) will get the video store. It won't have as many videos, I'm sure, and it may take a while, but it should come....

Same with X-Box live video store. Canada didn't have it at first, but we've got some videos now....

I have a US account too but the Videostore is locked for me as well. Pressing X on the Videostore does nothing for me.

mmaybe if you make your first account USA. i dont even have PSN working yet, and if they plan to block Canadaians for anything else, I will be very pissed. I'm tempted to call it discrimination.
