Sony releases offical sales numbers for June 2008. PS3 Hardware Sales Exceed 311% Year-Over-Year with total PlayStation unit sales over the 405,000 mark.

    Isn't the definition of "percent" a number over 100?
    If so, then how would you manage to get 311%?

    Percents can go as high as they need to in cases like these. Getting a 100% sales means you got as many sales as what your basing your statistics off. 200% means you got double, 300% triple. See where I'm coming from?

    Exactly. Basically say you project sales at 100 consoles and that's your target. Hitting your target would be 100%. But if instead you sell 150 then your sales were 150% of projected. Or another way of looking at it say you compare sales to the previous month. Last month you sold 100 and this month you sold 300. Well you had a 300% increase.

      Take the original number, multiply by 3.00 (300%), then add the result onto the original number, and you have the final result; the amount they sold.
