After Nintendo's E3 press conference, the inevitable disappointment has started to set in. Nintendo flatly denied any plans to fix the Wii's storage problem and Miyamoto told interviewers that they weren't going to show hardcore games at E3 (despite promises).

They were certainly right about the lack of "hardcore" games. Today Miyamoto was asked about whether Wii Music is truly a game - and his response was that it's "better than a video game". Why? Because it has "no discernible scoring system, no goals and little in the way of those squishy innards that makes a game a 'game'".
Well, that's not quite what I'd categorize as "better than a video game" but whatever floats your boat, Miyamoto!

One question asked of Miyamoto was Wii Music's qualifications as a game. You know, a game game. Since Wii Music has no discernible scoring system, no goals and little in the way of those squishy innards that makes a game a "game," isn't it just a "musical toy"? That was the question posed by one European journo.

"Yes, that's right," Miyamoto curtly replied "And that's why it's better than a video game."

More like UP UP UP UP,causal gamers will be like "Whao nintedo just keep getting better and better with quality titles such as wii music and carnival games, I laugh at 360 and ps3 owners who have only got gears of war, metal gear solid, mass effect, LOl those poor sods"

Alot of gamers who are hardcore dont put up with nintendo's shit and buy a 360 or PS3. But there are the select few who stay nintendo and consantly get screwed up the ass with a drill and say "We gotz marioz n zeldaz thts hardcore"

WiiMusic is worse than a video game. It's more of a widget of sorts, really. Like WiiSports and WiiFit and WiiPlay. Too many damned WiiGames.

If anything, WiiMusic reminds me more of Electroplankton. A "game" that acts more like a toy.

Electroplankton was more of a tool, yes.

It seems that with every news post in Gamegrep about Nintendo at E3 they either make themselves look like idiots, lose fans, or both.

Too true, but they are gaining more new fans (casuals and sheep) than they are losing hardcore fans. It doesn't affect me because I don't own a Wii, but I really am upset for the people who are getting slapped around right now. Nintendo's conference was painful to watch and I was waiting to see what this big game was that Reggie was hyping up months before the show. It's kinda sad.

It's better than a game becuase it's not a game? The hell is that kind of bullshit he's dishing to that poor journalist?

So now I guess he's pissed and is taking his anger out on the press because he made a complete and utter fool of himself at E3? Shit, not like no one told him to dance and play a make believe horn like a twat
    <_<0

Miyamoto is right, these arent games. What they are however, are really shiny beverage coasters.

This is the quote that defines Nintendo.

Nintendo's going to horribly butcher this game if they don't include a scoring system or goals of any sort. They aren't giving the player an sort of incentive to continue playing the game. Sure, people might buy the game but it'll be collecting dust like Wii Fit with most owners. At least Wii Fit, provides an incentive; but, you won't magically be able to shred like Slash after playing Wii Music.

As I predicted Nintendo simply don't need the hardcore gamers anymore, watch as their games become more and more casual over the next couple of years. It's bound to happen and more than a little sad

Lawl, first Wii sports, then Wii fit, and now Wii music.

No words can describe how horrible Nintendo are making themselves look. whats next? Wii food" "Please enjoy the great experience of food, its way better than video gaming..." XD

"Many of you have been wondering what the title is that I promised all you hardcore fans, well here it is. Using new and exciting ways of using the Wii Wheel is Wii Traffic. We managed to capture all the exciting and wonderful features of driving an actual car, such as turning on the windshield wipers, pulling into McDonalds, and probably the thing that's been wanted the most since the Wii's launch: Turn signals. Trust us, it's better than a video game." - Miyamoto, E3 2010

Nintendo is going down, making all these games for casual gamers who only buy a game to play for like an hour or two a week, where us hardcore gamers play games for hours upon hours everyday.

Next thing you know, we'll get WiiGame, you play as a character playing a video game! It's way better than any Video Game!

Not to sound like a fanboy, but we haven't played Wii Music yet. How do we know how good it is?
    • 1
      Shadow net583x s Jul 22, 08
What will keep you coming back to play it? There's no scoring system, so once the novelty wears off after a couple hours, you'll be sitting there wondering what else to do. You may pop it in to show friends once or twice, but that'll probably be all the love it'll get.

I don't even plan on buying it.

        Just sayin'.

    Zeon I Jul 21, 08
From the looks of it, it'll only have classical music, I don't want it.

I'll play Guitar Hero that actually has a score system and gives you an initiative to be the best.

Guys, Miyamoto is the most creative mind in the videogame world, give him some credit. He knows what he's talking about. He's had more experience with games than most of us have.
I trust in his good judgment. Wii Music sounds like a pretty good idea, anyway.

Is that a fact? Because I strongly disagree with that statement. Years and years of mario, zelda and metroid spin offs does not count as creativity to me. As a Wii owner, I can say that by far Miyamoto has not impressed me at all.
