Christian Svensson, Capcom USA's Corporate Officer/VP of Strategic Planning & Business Development, has stated over on the Capcom Unity forums that the newly-announced Dead Rising game, Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop, is not a port. It is being remade from the ground up for the Wii and will implement its own mechanics, while keeping the same story and location. The game will run off of an updated Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition engine.

Dead Rising: Chop Till You Drop is set to hit US shores this winter.

If you like RE4 Wii's control scheme, you're going to love this.

I think it's important to note: this isn't a port. This is recreated from the ground up for the Wii. So while it borrows things like story and location, there are many changes from the 360 beyond the obvious graphical ones.

Set to hit US shores this winter? Are you implying your going to blow up the boat carrying all the copies and they will wash upon shores all across the US?

Anyways I will probably end up getting this. I loved the control mechanics of Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, so that will be a plus, apart from Dead Rising being pretty much one of my favorite games, especially for the Xbox 360. Sure the graphics will suck for this and there will not be as many zombies on-screen. But the new mechanics and extra bit of story will make this a good piece of work.

I just hope the game will have all of the gameplay elements the original had, minus the millions of zombies at once.
