Jimi Hendrix: Confirmed for Guitar Hero: World Tour

Deathsythe | July 22, 2008 | News | Playstation 2 Playstation 3 Misc
Purple Haze (LIVE) and Wind Cries Mary are both confirmed for Guitar Hero: World Tour as per a recent statement from Activision.

Also- more songs have been said to be available as DLC.
Activision today (officially) scored a major player for Team Guitar Hero (take that Rock Band!), landing Jimi Hendrix, who will make his posthumous "video game debut" in Guitar Hero World Tour. Hendrix will feature as a playable character in the game, and two master tracks from the fire-casting rock star will ship on the game disc:

* "Purple Haze (Live)" (recorded in 1969 at the San Diego Sports Arena)
* "The Wind Cries Mary"

Additionally, Activision has announced plans to release more, unnamed Hendrix tracks as downloadable content. Seeing as how Rolling Stone has named Hendrix the "Greatest Guitarist Evar," it's about time we're able to honor his ineffable talent with five multi-colored buttons. So what's a guy like Jimi cost, Activision?

    Sweetness! This just made my decision on whether to get World Tour or Rock Band 2 like 1000 times easier. These 2 songs alone would've done it, but with more Hendrix arriving via DLC then it's no longer an issue, I'm getting World Tour.

    Voodoo chile would be better. Anway Hendrix was on the first Guitar Hero. It's not like he was one of those artists people have been waiting for who was holding out.*whoever owns his songs anyway*

    Old news

    Though, we already new Jimi was in the game, so it was pretty obvious we'd have some of his work. Though I was hoping for Voodoo Child as well...

    ...but who can complain

    I like Jimi and expect him to make an appearence on RB2 as well. I kinda heard this news last week though.

    But I'm more interested in hearing some Beatles news. The Beatles music needs to be in RB2 and GH. Why oh did we leave the worlds greatest songs in the hands of a freak!?
