We all love playing online against our friends or just some random people, but does Nintendo need to improve their online play? According this article, they do. Nintendo Wi-Fi first came out in 2005 and one of the big games that utilized the Wi-Fi was Mario Kart DS. It was introduced on to the Wii later and it wasn't so good, with games such as Super Smash Bros. Brawl lagging for 10 minutes straight (It still happens sometimes). To fix this problem, according to the article, Nintendo needs to buy better servers. The article also suggested to have something similar to Xbox Live gamertags, so that Nintendo can scrap the friend codes.
This leaves me with one question: Do you think that Nintendo needs to improve their online play?
The standard has been set. If any videogame system wishes to survive, handheld or console, it must have online compatibility. Arguably one of the most important features of the current generation of videogames, online compatibility has transformed the way people think of multi-player games. Pioneered by modems and near-perfected by the internet, playing online has taken the videogame community by storm and isnt looking back. With success coming from Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network one may think that Nintendo is right up with its competitors in the race for online connection well, instead, it has the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection; a second-rate substitute for online gaming. While it may get the job done, the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection is light-years behind the competition in the online world.

But yeah online isn't even worth playing. No voice chatting or anything. SSBB feels like I'm still playing against the AI.
