A few days ago it was revealed that Nintendo of America have no idea what Fatal Frame IV is, despite the game being released on Wii in Japan soon.
So perhaps the game won't be published by Nintendo in America? It seems Tecmo feels otherwise... Tecmo told fans to direct all questions regarding FFIV (and it's absence from E3) to Nintendo of America. That might be a little hard though, if NoA reps don't know what the game even is!

Several of you asked about Tecmo’s other titles that have been announced in Japan which were not on display at the show. Fatal Frame 4 (Wii) will be published by Nintendo, so please contact your Nintendo PR contact for further information. - Tecmo PR statement

Well…that’s not good at all. Tecmo seems to point towards Nintendo for publishing Fatal Frame IV in North America, yet when I asked Nintendo about the game, they were completely baffled.

In all technicality, email replies from Nintendo of America currently state that they are not publishing the game; the Tecmo rep must've referred to the fact that Nintendo is publishing in Japan.

If they were talking about E3 ("the show") you'd think that they would be referring to Nintendo of America?
Unless Tecmo (or Nintendo) have got their wires crossed.

NoA handles E3, hence why questions posed about the show should go to them.

And one rep. doesn't represent the entire company. Especially the talking heads trotted out for trade shows.

In all fairness, it's not uncommon for people to be left out of the loop in a large company.

I am a field service rep/product support tech for my company.....the ONLY one. We manufacture aviation products, mainly radios. So you would think I would be one of the first people to know of a new product on the market........not always the case!!!

I've been the LAST to know a couple of times when a new product is out and it's makes me look like a *bleep*ing jack ass and a half when someone asks about a product and goes "What do you mean you've never heard of it?!" It's embarrassing to say the least.

Not saying Nintendo is right in this situation, just saying that it does happen in big business. It's lame but lack of communication seems to plague a lot of businesses.

This is really embrassing. I'm really worried how they don't even remember what they are making.

They're not making it. They're publishing it.

Developing and Publishing are two halves of making a game. It's fair to say they are making it.

Not really. You can't say you're making a game when all you're doing is publishing it. For example, if I write a book, does that mean the publisher took part in writing it? No, they just gave it to the public.

Why can't you....if I develop a game then what? The same as they have nothing to publish without someone first developing one. They're both halves of a process...the end result is a game. Therefor, both had a hand in making it.

If you develop a game, then literally, you just did. It's still a game whether or not it's published. Publishing the game means you gave it to the public. That's it. It doesn't 'classify' it as a game, since that's what it already was from the beginning.

Fun facts: had this been multiplatform tecmo wouldn't have made a stupid assumption in the first place, and FF4 would be getting advertised a shit load. It seems to me Nintendo doesn't give a crap about FF4.
