Sony's Hirai Would Rather Be Shot Than Take An Exclusive 360 Title

No doubt Sony is disappointed that Final Fantasy XIII is now multiplatform, but would they want to take one of XBox 360's exclusives in retaliation?
In a recent interview with Aftonbladet, Sony's big boss Kaz Hirai was asked just that, and this was his response ...

Aftonbladet: If you had to choose ONE exclusive Xbox 360 title and launch it for the PS3 instead, which game would it be?
Hirai: I don't think I have to choose any.....
Aftonbladet: You have to pick one.
Hirai: Again, I don't think I have to pick one because we have such a fantastic lineup of games.
Aftonbladet: But if someone is holding a gun to your head and you have to choose one. Which game would it be?
Hirai: Okay.. then they have to shoot me, because I really don't think we need any.

    I think its a good policy, its a cheap way of winning the console war, in theory it costs Microsoft billions but exclusivity is only for one console half of the time, so it will be expensive keeping them all next gen, Sony's policy is cheaper and still works to this day.

    Yes but Sony's exclusives can be counted on one hand. They need to realize money talks. I was going to buy a ps3 untill GTA was announced on 360 so this policy is costing them.

      Unless you have six fingers I think that was a gross exaggeration. Sony has plenty of good exclusives now, that argument no longer stands.

    Haha, fair play to him and to be honest I would agree with him as there are non of the 360 Exclusives I would like to see on the PS3 at the moment as I wouldnt enjoy them ^^

          I never said you did, I was just pointing out that other PS3 owners may be very happy to see some 360 exclusives popping up on ps3.

          I'd love to see Fable 2 and Gears on the PS3. I'll definitely get them for the 360, though, either way.

          It's just that, I think Gears is such an awesome game, but a little shabby around the edges, and if it came out for the PS3 it would sell so much better which would probably entice EPIC Games to do an even better job of the third game.

          Or would that make them think, "Ah, it'll sell well no matter what we do"....?

    Guys, it's not a publicity stunt it's a Sony official saying what he HAS to say in public, nothing more, nothing less. That being said, that comment is already hard to believe.

    You're right. It's not pride or opinion. It's business. The sellers have to have the utmost confident in their product. To say he wanted to an exclusive would be to admit that Sony's exclusive aren't comparable to the 360s. That's just not good business sense.

    Wow I was just joking about the one hand thing but then you just revealed that thier was about only 8 you can think of. I'm not bashing Sony but honestly thier is no way they will make it in the console business if this keeps up. The ps3 still isn't making a profit and people will get tired of playing MGS4 eventually.

      I don't know why everyone's still saying the PS3 is close to failure all the time. Their sales are currently overcoming expectations, and anyone who says the '08 exclusive lineup isn't enough is outta their mind. I don't get why people keep up with this 'Sony needs to step it up or the PS3 is going to die.'

        Aren't the only major PS3 exclusives of 2008 MGS4 and Resistance 2? MGS4 was amazing, but not enough to hold a console together.

        And, TBH, Resistance 2 doesn't really look that good to me. For one thing, it doesn't look like they even tried to improve the graphics from what I've seen.

          360 doesn't exactly have tons of major titles either: Gears 2 and Fable 2 only come to mind. Both consoles are doing about the same this year.

          PS3 is also getting LBP, Home, InFamous, and Versus. We could list them all but I've got a text limit.

          Ah ah, no clashing here.

          Though to be fair, Resistance 2's graphics didn't have a major overhaul, but the 8 player co-op campaign (with class diversities) and major upgrades online more than make up for it.

          The graphics for Resistance 2 will get better, Insomniac have always worked on gameplay first and graphics last, check out the early build for the first Resistance compared to what we got. A lot happens in the last few months

          TBH the first itme I saw Resistance, I thought the lighting effects and general atmosphere was amazing.

          But the campaigns featured in RFOM 2 sound spectacular. If done right, it'll be a great game.

        Correct me if im wrong, but aren't you Neoseeker pessimist who always come on gamegrep sprouting how disappointing the PS3 08 line up is and its not as huge as people make it out to be.

        You sure know how to contradict yourself and throw a complete 180 degree turn.

        FYI seeker is right, its not Hirai would be saying "Our exclusives sucks and we need to get the 360 exclusives." He's just saying what any other person in a company would say and supporting his titles.

    I agree. If Sony previously had 2 top selling consoles and a successful handheld, then I would give them their respect. But as it stands, they have no place in the console business....
