With the Xbox Live still having a Gold & Silver membership, it has now come to the attention of some fans with the Silver Xbox Live membership to be capable of playing online. One gamer has said that he has been capable of playing cross-platform gaming since last Wednesday night, which is evidently before the free Xbox Live weekend which began Friday at midnight.
The very same gamer has also said that he has been playing Shadowrun, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition and Universe at War: Earth Assault all online for free. What makes it ironic is that he only has a silver membership.
Owen Good the article writer checked his Gamercard and it showed that he played Shadowrun online on Thursday.
Will Xbox Live become free like the PlayStation Network soon? Only time will tell.
OK, this is hard to run down exactly, because there's a Live Weekend going on right now, which means you can play online for free on Xbox Live. But reader Draco, a Silver level gamer, says that he's been playing cross-platform multiplayer games for free since Wednesday night, which precedes the Live Weekend (which started at midnight Friday.) I checked his Gamercard and, yeah, he played Shadowrun online on Thursday.

Anyways, what does this mean? That Silver Live accounts can be played on now? Or that they'll soon have that feature?
I read what's above, and the link doesn't work for me(kotaku hardly ever works for me, for some odd reason), but I don't completely understand.
