Cosplayers and Final Fantasy fans rejoice! Square Enix is currently working with clothing designers "ROEN" to create some outfits for the characters of Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Versus XIII.
These outfits will also be sold in "ROEN" clothing stores after the game's release.

Reportedly Square Enix is teaming up with clothing designers "ROEN" for some garments to be seen in Final Fantasy XIII. Characters (main or side characters, we don't know) will be seen wearing ROEN clothing in the game, which apparently ROEN will be producing for sale, in real clothing stores.

They do realise this is going to be a commercial failure outside Japan and Halloween don't they?

But those are ordinary everyday products, how many people are going to want to dress up like the average FF character and walk down the street?

You're saying Final Fantasy clothing/outfits is the same as energy drinks, Mac books, and iPods?

The brand is nothing special, to be honest. 100 GBP for a black T-shirt with a skull on it. C'mon.

    Black. Check!
    Leather. Check!
    Zippers. Check!
    Pins. Check!
    Belts. Check!

I can see why Nomura loves it.

Just what I always wanted. Knee high boots, short shorts, a white tunic and a cape to go along with my mage staff. No one's going to buy this shit set aside huge freaks.

Couldn't agree more. But I'd definitely stress the "Huge Freak" thing because thats basically what they are.

But hey, everyone needs a hobby right?

The ROEN outfits that will be used in the game will be suits and "regular clothing", rather than typical Final Fantasy attire.

I'm not a huge freak and would buy this, cause I actually think it looks cool. Different tastes I suppose.

Squenix has always been a whore in that aspect. Remember the cell phone ads featuring Cloud when Advent Children was released? FF10 and 10-2 teamed up with the music industry.

Don't forget Advent Children itself. It's a one-and-a-half hour long cellphone ad in itself.

And when Cloud dropped his phone in the water, and there was a long sequence of just watching it float to the bottom. xP

But that scene was important! We learnt all about the phone's past!

We learned about Cloud's call history XD Product placement in media doesn't actually bother me. During Transformers, for example, I laughed when the *American* police car smashed into some junkie 3-series BMWs... or the 360 that turned into a mini-Transformer. It's so blatant you can't NOT laugh at it.

The only product placement that has bugged me was Burger King in Iron Man.

So the BK logo just happened to be facing the camera perfectly did it ?
