Infinity Ward : 4 New Online Modes Coming To COD4

tidus04 | August 03, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 3
Infinity Ward are set to release (though no release date as of yet) 4 New Online Modes to their Call of Duty 4 title after a successful test run was done on the modes back in July. The 4 new modes they are bringing to the game are:

Bare-bones Team Deathmatch: Normal Team DM except no kill streak rewards and you can't use perks.
Multi-bomb Search and Destroy: Everyone starts with a bomb instead of just one player.
Hardcore (versions of Headquarters): No HUD's and increased damage
Free-for-All: Self explanatory.

It is said that both will be available to Playstation Network and Xbox LIVE but nothing was claimed about the PC version.
All four modes are pretty straightforward. Bare-bones Team Deathmatch is like normal Team Deathmatch games except there's no kill streak rewards and you can't use perks. In Multi-bomb Search and Destroy, instead of the attacking team only having one bomb to plant, every player gets one. The last two modes are simply Hardcore (no HUD's, increased damage) versions of Headquarters and Free-for-All.

No date on when these new modes would go live. According to Infinity Ward community manager fourzerotwo, the playlists will now be tested internally to iron out the few remaining bugs and then localized to the various languages COD4 is available in. After that, they'll "flip the switch to make it available to everyone over Xbox LIVE / PSN. No download or anything is required. The playlist will update seamlessly the next time players get on once it’s uploaded."

The only thing I didn't get when doing this article is that a Free For All is already in the game, right?

Barebones should be good, It just sucks when 1 guy camps the whole game and just calls in tons of helicopters, and you also get a sucky team that just run at them.

I'm mainly interested in Multi-bomb Search and Destroy and Hardcore Headquarters.

How specifically will Multi-bomb Search and Destroy work though ? Can we plant multiple bombs in one round if we time it right ? And is there any word on if there's going to be a Hardcore version of it ?

    Hardcore Headquarters sounds good, but I can totally foresee this happening;

Player#1 kills two opponents who are trying to capture the headquarters.
Player#1 then tries to capture the headquarters.
Player#2, who has been watching the whole affair, teamkills player#1 and steals the fifty points bonus for capturing the headquarters.

As possible as that sounds, I really don't see it working out too well for Player 2's team. Now they're down one player to defend the Headquarters.

True, but if Player#2 was enough of an ass to teamkill for points, I don't think he cares much for his team.

This happens in Hardcore S&D, but its not enough to deteriorate from the overall fun.

I know it's not enough to ruin the fun, I was merely noting. It's not something that would stop me playing Hardcore Headquarters, I'm just saying that I can see that happening.

Wait, what ? No. Your game will automatically update for these gametypes once the update for it has been certified and released.

Now, this is going to be free, correct? I still haven't got the map pack, too lazy to go out and buy a card...

Maybe I'll get one tomorrow. Probably not.

Really hope this involves PC. Also bare-bones is looking most promising at the minute.
