Mario Kart Wii hackers strike again

Silver Mirror | August 03, 2008 | News | Wii Company
Nintendo always seems to get lumped with the scum of the Internet and Mario Kart Wii is no exception. In the latest Mario Kart Wii tournament some very good times were submitted for some tracks. Two even getting under half a second, one sporting the name ihack@you, of course its 100% legit right? Lets hope Nintendo deal with this
The newest Mario Kart Wii tournament went live a few days ago, but unfortunately, some participants took it upon themselves to hack their way to the top. Two racers have submitted ludicrous times - 0.004 and 0.609 seconds. Immediately upon looking at these results, one would quickly surmise that the results would not have been able to have been achieved through ethical means. Also, one of the hackers has gone so far as to dawn the name “ihack@you.” This is not the first time the Mario Kart Wii online system has been hacked. Previously, people began to exploit the Time Trials system to earn impossible times. Nintendo was able to root out and take care of cheaters, so it is expected that Nintendo will take similar action with this latest issue.

What is the point in hacking in a Nintendo game? There is no reward for getting the fastest time. Is it just to screw everyone else?

Some people just can't bear losing, and those people need to get a life and try actually winning at something worthwhile...like life.

I don't see anything wrong with hackers. They're just some dumb people that can't do well in a game, so they think AR will help them be better. They're wrong. And there's no prize for it either, so honestly, I see no point.

Except by continuous scorn and hate of hackers they get continuous mention all over the internet and various blogs even mention specific players repeatedly. That is reward enough for them
