Best Buy: Final Fantasy VII remake coming 8/16/08.

In what can only be described as a huge blunder on their part, Best Buy are advertising the release of a Final Fantasy VII Remake for PS3, coming out on the 16th of August 2008.

- Should be interesting to see what becomes of this.

We've seen this sign popping up over the weekend on the internets, and now reader and Best Buy employee Boomy (possibly a pseudonym) sends this snap from his iPhone of a coming soon sign misprint that is set to disappoint a lot of people come August 16th. At least we assume that this is a misprint. Either that, or Square Enix has developed Apple-levels of secrecy over the past few years...somehow I doubt it.

It's just odd that such a screw-up would occur with nothing even vaguely FF-related coming out this month. Disgaea 3 ships on the 18th, and while for some of us that is more exciting than a FFVII remake, I can't see some hapless sign-monkey mixing the two of them up. Odd.

    best buy has done this before with ff7. A while back they had it listed as coming out december 1st 2006. they probly pick a date outta a hat every couple years and say its coming out to mess with the fanboys

      To my knowledge, Best Buy stopped carrying PSX games, so I don't think so.

        Best Buy actually never carried psx games they handled ps1 but psx is something completely different it is actually a system that was only released in japan that played ps1 and ps2 games and acted as a DVR and cost a whopping $2000(usd after conversion from yen) and was an utter failure.

      lol, I can imagine someone buying it and putting it in their PS3 and upon selecting the game seeing a HD Rick Astley never giving them up

    Disgaea 3 ships on the 18th? Does that mean it'll come out a bit before the 26th? I realize the 18th is just the day it is supposedly shipping, but it seems a bit early for a game that will come out over a week later than that.....

    LAWL, this reminds of last year when it was reported by 1up(I think) that FF7 remake is coming soon in February 2008, only to be shot down.

    Im positive this is false and misread something, as usual, from some article; cause Nomura stated they didn't have the man power or the original team atm to make the game.

    But hey I would love to see what happens in 11 days.
