Even though Call of Duty: World at War isn't out yet, it's sequel has already been confirmed to be released in 2009 by Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick.

Are you ready for more Call of Duty? No, not CoD: World at War, which arrives in October--we're talking about the next sequel, which will arrive sometime in 2009.

The sequel was confirmed by Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick, during an earnings conference call last Friday. He said the series' 2009 sequel will change developer hands from Treyarch to Infinity Ward.

Wired notes that when Infinity Ward renewed its publishing deal with Activision earlier in 2008, rumors hinted it was working on a sci-fi title, as well as an original franchise title. With the 2009 CoD news, it would appear as though the latter has come to pass.

      lol

I'm amazed on how fast it takes them to make their games. It was only like yesterday when the first COD came out.

its amazing how long it takes to copy+paste an entire video game, really.
call of duty 6 is already 100% finished. it's been finished since the day call of duty 3 was made.

Haha, that's one way to think about it. But yeah, Infinity Ward already stated they were working on the next installment right after they finished CoD4.

    This is news ?

I thought we all knew by now that the Call of Duty series is coming out on an annual basis with Infinity Ward and Treyarch alternating on titles.

I don't think it's really actual news until it's confirmed by a reliable source. Plus, if you read it, it talks about the rumors concerning whether or not Infinity was working on some stuff independently instead of making the next Call of Duty, thereby making it not a 2009 release, which was proven to be false.

Perhaps you should shut the hell up. You know it is possible for people to think on their own and hate WW2 games with a passion nowadays right? Half the games out on the market might aswell be a WW2 game. Quit being a little prick.

Yeah, I think that they should've concentrated on 5 first.

Still, great to see them getting the games done and released quickly. Doesn't say much about quality though and it could well be delayed.

You do realise that Call of Duty 5 and 6 aren't being developed by the same company, right?

They make decisions too fast, they'll end up having COD6 with the same features as COD4...

It's because of all the success, it went up to their heads...
