Is it just another attempt for them to try and get a piece of the pie, or aren't the artists receiving what they deserve from the massive success of franchises like Guitar Hero and Rock Band?

Warner Music Chief Executive Edgar Bronfman says "The amount being paid to the music industry, even though their games are entirely dependent on the content we own and control, is far too small."

Record companies suck....for years they were a necessary evil. Now that it's changing they're going to get desperate for all sorts of things like this.

Besides, how many people have discovered bands they love from Rock Band or Guitar Hero and bought a CD that they wouldn't have bought otherwise?

Might as well go ahead and archive this topic right now. Nothing more needs to be said.

It will never be enough for the record industry.....that's why we started paying $20 for shitty double disc CD's that could have fit on one. Or where you spend $15 for a CD with 12 songs and 7 are skits.

I'm not surprised though. The music industry is dying. We live in an age where we can go online and find bands that are perfectly catered to our own tastes. Not like the old days when the music industry had so much power by picking and choosing what they felt could bring in the most profit. Plus, I absolutely HATE when I buy a CD and there are only 2 songs that are good. That's why I just buy my stuff from itunes etc. It's a pathetic attempt to save their own asses.

I sort of agree. The record labels made mounds and mounds of cash in the 80s and early 90s especially, with millions of kids buying Britney Spears albums and what not. Now they feel that they are entitled to always making that much money. When in fact, I don't they'll ever make as much as the did.

And its funny how this CEO complains about how much money "goes to the industry." Doesn't he realize he is just making money of the artists? If it wasn't for the artists, he'd be nothing. And the artists don't need the record labels as much as the record labels need the artists these days.

I think this is stupid. The music companies are rich enough.

Please artists get screw more then the companies, they keep most of the profit. And lets be realistic here, 20 dollars for 7 songs? And several are skits? That leaves you with 5 songs and probably 1 or 2 you like? Thats why I stopped getting CD's its too damn expensive especially if I don't like half of the songs on the track. The the case and the paper causes the price of the CD to double of what it should be. I-tunes or napster has it right, charge 1 dollar per song. that way they benefit from it and its cheaper.

What $20 CDs do you buy with 7 songs? And 2 skits equals several?

I never bought CD's that were like that, in fact I saw the CD's and the track. Im making a point. However you're not making sense, in a track of 7 on a CD I was making the point that Several tracks are skits reducing the track to 5 or 4 which really rips off the consumer. Like I said before I only bought one CD before, and never again did it due to the BS of what I explained.
