Games We Love but Wish We Could Love Playing
8 hours 16 mins ago
Well it seems that epic decided to add filters so the younger audience can play this awesome game too. The question is, will us hardcore gamers like it?
Remember Gears of War? Remember how bloody and vulgar it is? Well the sequel will have just as much of that "mature" content, but this time will come equipped with optional filters to block it, as well.
The game has already received an M rating from the ESRB for "Blood and Gore," "Intense Violence," and "Strong Language," but Microsoft has told the gaming press that the included filters will let Xbox 360 users "turn the blood into sparks," "take out all the swear words," or both.
Honestly, what's the point of a violence filter? The game is violent, no matter what spews from the severed appendages of Marcus Fenix's slain enemies. Be it blood, green ooze, sparks, or butterflies--body parts are still getting blasted, torn, and sawed off all over the place.
Regardless of that, hopefully this makes the media look more favorably upon an industry that sincerely tries to do the right thing by parents and their children, because I can already picture headlines reading, "Ultraviolent game baits parents with ineffective 'violence filter,' poisons children."
I hope that's not the case.

as in not designed for a young audience?
why is it under ps3 news anyway, ps3 wont get it
Sorry to burst your bubble, but this option was in Gears 1 and is switched off by default.
This is old news anyways.
Hopefully this one DOES work much better. I'm not getting the game (not interested in the plotline), but this type of filtering is something I've been saying for over a decade needs to be in all games. I don't care to listen to profanity in every sentence of the script. Not even once in an hour! I can't stand profanity, and it honestly becomes a deciding factor when buying games. I don't need to have people in the room (even when they're not watching it) hearing "F-this" "That's BS!" and "S-t!" No thanks.
But if Devs put in this type of filtering for both language AND violence, I think it'd sell more games, and it'd show the devs are considerate about their customers and their friends/family. Those devs, have my respect.
Even if people don't get this game FOR their kids (which I really don't think they should do), they may happen to live with young children.
Also, some of the blood splatter really got in the way. Yes, I know I'm dying, now please let me see the damn screen! They need some kinda windshield wiper option
i think this is an interesting concept, really.
This was in the first one too? So I don't get why its news.
That's like saying BIG NEWS: NEXT HALO WILL HAVE GUNS.
