Bioware Looking At More DS Titles: Mass Effect DS?

Akira_EX | August 08, 2008 | News | DS
Speaking to Eurogamer Germany, Miles Holmes, lead designer of the upcoming DS RPG Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhead from Bioware, has stated that the developer has expressed interest in the DS, seeing it as one of the ways that it could reinforce their franchises.

The franchises under consideration? Mass Effect, Jade Empire, and Dragon Age.

This is similar to sentiments also expressed by fellow team member Mark Darrah, who has said that BioWare is looking into PSP and Wii development.
BioWare's Miles Holmes has said that the developer is looking at possibly bringing Mass Effect, Jade Empire and Dragon Age titles to the Nintendo DS, according to Eurogamer.de.

The lead designer of the upcoming DS RPG Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood described the title as an effort to get BioWare's handheld division off the ground. He explained that the developer would consider making more DS titles to support its console games, saying: "Basically anything that reinforces the franchises".

"We have a lot of big plans for Mass Effect. Having a DS version would be an awesome way to keep interest alive and keep it going in addition to the next one [Mass Effect 2]," said Holmes.

Holmes commented he would personally like to see a Mass Effect title on the DS: "I tell you which one I would want. I want the Mass Effect one".

Mass Effect won't come to DS seeing as MS own the franchise.

        Nope, EA own Bioware.

MS own Mass Effect. Honestly, why would MS sell it?

You're still wrong. EA owns Bioware, AND Mass Effect, even though Microsoft Game Studios published Mass Effect.

Note that Mass Effect PC was published by EA, not Microsoft.

Bioware created and owns Mass Effect. EA bought Bioware, Thus EA owns the rights for Mass Effect. That's why there is all this speculation if the game is coming to PS3 or DS.

Mass Effect seems like it'd come out better on the PSP..much as I'd love to have it on the DS. Although..if they worked magic like Nintendo did with Metroid Prime Hunters, I suppose it could be pretty darn good.
