The official site for Nintendo's latest game, Captain Rainbow, has opened today, with a video of the opening, and sections for the story and the game flow.
Players take control of Nick, who is the alter ego of the famous superhero Captain Rainbow, or at the very least, once-famous. Captain Rainbow is now a washed-up unpopular superhero, whom the children have moved on from to others. As such, Nick travels to Mimin Island, where it is said that your dreams can come true.
At Mimin Island, he discovers he is not the only one who has gone to grant their wishes. An assorted cast of second/third-tier Nintendo characters have also made their way to the island, hoping to have their dreams come true. Prepare to see the not-so-familiar faces of Birdo from Super Mario Bros. 2 USA, Little Mac from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!, Takamaru from Nazo no Murasamejou, Crazy Tracy from Link's Awakening, the soldiers from Famicom Wars, and many more characters.
Captain Rainbow is developed by skip, Ltd., the makers of the GameCube hit Chibi-Robo and GiFTPiA. The game is set to release in Japan on August 28, 2008, and will retail for 6800 yen. No localization plans have been announced yet.
This, my friends, is the newest Game of the Forever.

Let's hope they'll release it outside of Japan. Knowing American gamers they stay the heck away from anything with the word "Rainbow" in the title.
