Punter Chris Kluwe plays Guitar Hero, claims he's one of the best

Tyranitar24 | August 09, 2008 | News | XBOX 360 Misc
Chris Kluwe, the Minnesota Vikings punter, was at a restaurant in Mankato focusing in on the T.V. screen, playing Guitar Hero on the Xbox 360. Vikings executives Rob Brzezinski and Rick Spielman were amazed at how good Kluwe really was at the game.

Kluwe says that he is roughly one of the top 100 Guitar Hero players in the world, he has even beat the guy who holds the Guinness World Record! Kluwe was also able to play Activision's corporate sales meeting earlier this year. Kluwe really enjoyed playing, he was even asked by members of Activision to join their team as a "ringer".

Despite being so good at Guitar Hero, he knows that his daughter Olivia and football come first.
MANKATO, Minn. — Chris Kluwe stood there with his lips pursed, focusing, sweat building on his forehead.

The crowd watching him chanted, "Kluwe! Kluwe!" as Vikings executives Rob Brzezinski and Rick Spielman watched him perform, their jaws open in amazement.

No, Kluwe wasn't punting in a pressure situation. Holding a plastic guitar inside a Mankato restaurant as people cheered, Kluwe was engrossed in his other passion, the video game Guitar Hero on Xbox 360.

Kluwe estimates that he is one of the top 100 Guitar Hero players in the world, although he emphasizes playing football for the Vikings is his priority. He even has defeated the Guinness World Record holder and played at a video-game developer's convention.

When most football players get recognized in public, it's usually for what they've done on the field. But Kluwe has gained fame — and a little playful ribbing from teammates — for his fast fingers as well.

"It's crazy," Vikings long snapper Cullen Loeffler said. "He's an NFL punter, and he almost gets more praise and credit for being such a good Guitar Hero player. When we're going out to eat, some of the fans are coming up to him and instead of them saying to him, 'Great game, you did such a great job punting,' it's more, 'Hey, you're so unbelievable playing Guitar Hero."

Judging from the scores given on the source, I'm way better than he is, and I am FAAAAAAAR from being in the top 100. I'm probably sitting in the top 5000, but even that is stretching it.

Odd. I'm about top 150-300, yet I can kick his ass when it comes to Guitar Hero/Rock Band. Judging by the scores, he's a mediocre player. "and he scored 335,557 points for Steve Ouimette's "The Devil Went Down to Georgia."

I have like 538,xxx on that song, and I'm not near the top.

"Then he played Living Colour's "Cult of Personality," ending on a streak of 247 consecutive notes hit, his final score reaching 265,323 points."

I have like 330,000 on that song with a NS of like 500-600, I don't know the exact note streak. I'm probably not the highest person in that song, at most top 50.

My point is, he isn't anywhere near amazing at the game; let alone top 100.

Never heard of him. And judging from the article, he's a bit cocky to claim he's one of the best. Those scores aren't proving anything.
