WWE star Randy Orton wants more violence in video games; speaking to Eurogamer, he said he's sick and tired of the bad press gaming gets, stating "the more blood the better."

WWE man-mountain Randy Orton last night became an unlikely defender of the industry's creative freedoms, urging developers to fight back against critics with a rallying cry for "more violence" in videogames. The fantasy wrestling superstar, who's currently sidelined with a broken collarbone, was in London to promote THQ's SmackDown vs. Raw 2009, and revealed to Eurogamer how he was sick and tired of the bad press gaming receives, insisting that the makers of adult titles had nothing to be ashamed of.

"Violence sells. I want to see more violence in games - the more blood the better," he told us. Orton argued that videogames were the least of parents' worries, when some "don't know their kids are watching South Park".

He cited the example of the Scorcese gangster flick Goodfellas as evidence that movie violence could be far more shocking than anything in a videogame, calling Grand Theft Auto "just a cartoon" in comparison.

Has he not heard of Gears of war? More violence would equate to just blood and a blunt object.

"don't know their kids are watching South Park".
South Park is tame compared to some games.

      I lol'd haha.

But I agree with GG. Violent games = / = great games.

However, like him, I do too want more blood in the next Smackdown game. Would create much more realism. Especially if you focus on the head area.

PS: I hope you don't mind me posting this article in the SDvsRaw09 forum. =P

Hope so.He sounds like a cool person in real life and it would be good if his wrestling persona was to.

SvR should have more blood.Actual wrestling can have quite large amounts of blood from time to time and the game should be no different.

I'd rather more quality in games than more violence in them.

For other games I would be inclined to agree, for wrestling games, its been mediocre the last several years. The violence needs to be kicked up a notch instead of making it dull and sell to kids.

Agreed with Gothic Girl, a game doesn't need violence to be great.

He's right about Goodfellas. Brutal movie, and far worse violence than any games out currently.

Indeed, a game doesn't need violence, but he's right in saying violence sells. At least, it pretty damn looks like it.
