From the laughable British magazine the Daily Mail comes another new gem, this time targeting its sights on the upcoming ultraviolent Platinum Games Wii game, MadWorld. The point of contention is that it is one of the most violent games ever making its way to the 'family-friendly' Wii.

MadWorld is one of the four games from PlatinumGames's publishing deal with Sega. The game stars Jack, who is stuck in the confines of Varrigan City, forced to participate in the do-or-die death show, Death Watch. Over-the-top kills are part of the norm for him win and get behind the mystery of the show. Enact signature finishing moves such as the Double Dagger Seppuku™, Human Garbage™, Rose Garden™, or play a game of Man Darts™. The striking tri-colored visuals provide artistic Sin City-esque values. The game is due out early 2009.

So, who actually reads the Daily Mail again?

A new computer game tipped to be the most violent ever is being released exclusively on the so-called 'family friendly' Wii console.

Nintendo will dramatically transform Wii's image with the release of ultra violent video game MadWorld which, 'revolves around the themes of brutality and exhilaration', according to its creators.

Players in the 'hack and slash' game, which is due for a UK release in early 2009, can impale enemies on road signs, rip out hearts and execute them with weapons including chainsaws and daggers.

Indeed, the sheer stupidity of this article is staggering. To begin with, how does ONE GAME change the image of a system? If parents are concerned that this game is not appropriate for children, then they shouldn't buy it. Gasp! Hence the whole "ratings" thing. Even beyond that, there are plenty of violent games on the Wii already. No More Heroes is much in the same vein as this, as well as Manhunt 2, Resident Evil 0, 4, and UC, and plenty more.

Exactly. They said this game will single handedly destroy the Wii's family-friendly image. Last time I checked, there are a few more M-rated games that did nothing to taint the Wii's image. It's not like the game is gonna be advertised between Saturday morning cartoons and depict 7-year-olds, soccer moms, and old people playing it.

On a side note, wasn't the style supposed to save it from this criticism since it's not realistic at all? Apparently not.

M Games are for mature audiences only, just like how R Movies are for mature audiences. I wonder why they don't complain about minors watching R Movies?

It'll teach kids how to stab people with street signs.

They deserve some credit for finding a game that's not really all that popular, I suppose. At least they didn't say ROCKSTAR's next game will be bad. It'll hurt the children.

This game makes me wish I own a Wii. This, and No More Heroes.

Considering they said the Wii was the future of gaming just goes to show how very little they know.

Oh, and why was my previous post removed with no reason given?

Because Gamer Grep mods are corrupted.

Still debatable Donnelly, lets wait until Motion Plus to decide.

Why? That's not a console its an addon.

It's an addon which supposedly takes motion play to the next stage.

In other words, it's an add-on that does what the Wiimote should already do... but doesn't.

Perhaps the Gothic Girl but it just means even better games in the future. That enhancement is very relevant and is being brought around by the success of the Wii as it is. I have no doubt that the future of gaming will be heavily influence by the Wii, can you tell me why it wouldn't be?

Because motion sensing has been done before.
It has piss poor processing power, Which is defenetly not the way games are heading.
Alot of people dont like motion sensing, I don't see the point in it.

If im going to imitate playing tennis I might aswell go and play with my mates.

Granted, Its fun. But its in no shape to influence gaming heavily, I don't see PC's now being made with a wiimote to play games instead of a mouse.

If all next consoles have wiimote things in them, I wont buy one, I would just play games on my PC.

Who do you think'll copy more off the competition?

          MS and Sony? Or Nintendo?

How is discussing a quote from the article considered a "derailing"?
        • 0
          ali3n Aug 15, 08
The article wasn't about which one is going to be taking over, you picked up that one sentence and decided to simply focus on that, that's derailing. Also I'm not sure Nintendo is going to be copying of MS or Sony all that much. For the most part it simply looks like you're a fanboy who gets angry over the littlest thing.

Just because the Wii is "family-friendly" doesn't mean that we can't have violent games. If parents don't want their kids playing games like this, then maybe they should pay more attention to the games their kids play.

Plus there isn't as much imitatable violence in this game anyway. It's all over the top and funny.

Family friendly...hmmm maybe not the right description. Try describing it like "anti family friendly."
