DS FPS-lovers who've been looking forward to the classic-style game C.O.R.E. will be happy to know the release date has been confirmed for October.
NoWay Studio says the title will feature a "Roswell-style storyline" and will have multiplayer in "specially designed arenas". More details in the quote; check Nintendic for the latest screens.
"The inspiration for CORE comes from the team's love of the classic early video games like Doom, Quake and Half-Life," enthused Jakub Pieczykolan, chief executive of NoWay Studio.
"These incredible games have that great combination of skilful and addictive gameplay which we have now re-created for the Nintendo DS.
"CORE is essentially two games in one: the single player mission is spread over 15 huge levels and the multiplayer across ten specially designed arenas."
Multiplayer will consist of the usual capture the flag, team and regular deathmatch modes.
The ten arenas have been created with a range of weapons and shields 'strategically placed' to make the game more interesting. Up to four players can get involved using only one game cartridge.
As for the single player, the plot goes that a meteor has crashed into the Earth and the 'government' (we assume it is the American one) is conducting research at a special facility (the titular CORE) built alongside the impact site.
20 years later, a news blackout is declared and conspiracy theorists begin to suspect a 'big discovery' had been made.
Players are given the task of discovering what the strange new radiation emanating from the base is and why all contact has been lost.
