The official Star Trek Online website has recently posted up a official FAQ, which can be found here or by clicking the source.

The FAQ answers questions about the game ranging from PC and console players being able to use the same servers to where the game is going to take place.

Just about everything you need to know about Star Trek Online has been released in the form of a FAQ on the official website.

The main points to come out of it are that the will possibly be PC and console play on the same servers, that these servers will combine PvP and competitive PvE, trading will play a role (although the Federation has done away with money...), and will be set 30 years from the events of Star Trek Nemisis. Developers Cryptic seem to be looking for every level of gamer to join, including such vital information about the internet requirements, such as the need to have it connected to play... Thanks.
