The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy book coming November 28th

Amazon has created a product page for a new book titled The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy, which is being edited by Luke Cuddy. The Legend of Zelda and Philosophy is the latest book to enter the "longrunning Popular Culture and Philosophy series."

The publisher of the book believes it will answers many questions about the Zelda series, ranging from seeing Hyrule as an ideal society to considering Zelda art.

The book will be the latest entry in the longrunning "Popular Culture and Philosophy" series. The series has spawned dozens of volumes looking into the deeper meaning of our favorite entertainment. These philosophical deconstructions include Seinfeld, The Simpsons, The Beatles, zombies, James Bond, The Matrix, The Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, poker and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Several rival pop culture philosophy publishers have sprung up. Blackwell Philosophy and Pop Culture covers such topics as Lost, 24, Family Guy and The Office. While The Philosophy of Popular Culture has covered The X-Files, football and Stanley Kubrick.

Very interesting story, man.
Never really thought about the Zelda/eutopia thing, at least not consciously, until now. But yeah, living in Hyrule would kick *bleep*ing ass.

What I would like to know is if it is using The Legend of Zelda to present what must be considered about a perfect world, using Vaati and Ganondorf as explanations of why such a thing is unachievable no matter how close one can get to it, the complications of a destiny, and the question of reincarnation or is it dealing with them solely in the game world. Either way hopefully he can come to a better conclusion than me of whether or not all of Hyrule follows a destiny or whether Link is guided very carefully through the unfolding world.

Sorry I think about that stuff alot either way so I may have been carried away just there.

I've always loved how Zelda draws from tons of themes and symbols throughout all kinds of mythology. This will be an interesting read!
