Xbox Live and Pac-man team up to create a fantastic tournament where you can win prizes from 100,000 Microsoft Points, to one Quizno sandwich a week for 26 years. The contest starts April 25th and ends May 9th. Will you play Pac-Man to try to win some prizes on Live?
At the onset of the promotion, the Xbox Live Arcade Pac-Man leaderboards will be reset, putting everyone on an even playing field. Nine winners will be culled from the top of the leaderboards, with regional representatives coming from around the world. The breakdown of the regions is as follows; two winners from the US, two from Europe, and one each from Asia, Australia/New Zealand, Canada, Japan and Mexico. The nine finalists will be announced before June 1 and then flown to New York City, courtesy of Microsoft, for the finals and the chance to become known as the greatest Pac-Man player in the world.
Even if you're not so great at Pac-Man, there is still a way to get a free trip to New York City and a wild-card spot in the finals. Running concurrently with the Xbox Live Arcade contest will be a FANatic competition. Fans of the game from the United States and Canada will be asked to submit a video that shows why they are the biggest Pac-Man fan in the land. This super fan will be brought to NYC to compete with the nine regional finalists for the grand prize to see if fandom equates to skills. We're guessing not, though Jeff Bell, corporate vice president of Global Marketing for Microsoft's Interactive Entertainment Business, believes they'll likely provide another type of entertainment. "At the very least, we anticipate that they'll be able to provide some comic relief."
