NextGen Players writes about some anti-gamer comments made by Adam van Koeverden, Canada's flag-bearer for the Beijing 2008 Olympics. According to Adam we need to get our kids off the couch and away from the Xbox 360. Instead, we need to encourage our kids to get back into sports.
So the story goes like this: Adam van Koeverden, a celebrated and decorated Canadian kayak racer and flag-bearer for the Beijing 2008 Olympics was speaking to The London Free Press about our country's dismal olympic showing thus far. His message for those people whining about our low medal count: Get your kids off the couch.
He continues:
Id like to ask the people who are complaining about our results are they playing Xbox or are they playing sports? Are they going to (amusement parks) on the weekend or are they swimming? Do they do swimming lessons? Are they encouraged to play sports at school?"

really, he's just saying kids are lazy in general. he's not being an anti-video-game nazi or anything.
I've never been one for sport, I don't have fun playing it. And I'm not alone, some people just don't like it cause it can be incredibly boring! I don't think I could enjoy cricket if my life depended on it.
BTW, South Korea is the only country in the world where millions of people tune in to watch video game tournaments, and "professional gamer" is actually a respectable career. Yet they are 6th in the standings overall (with 22 medals, 8 of them gold). What does he have to say about that?
