With Sony slowly gaining ground on Microsoft in terms of consoles sold, is Sony starting to hit Microsoft where it hurts - its weakspots? Well Arstechnica takes a look at just that.

The issues being looked at the include but are not limited to:

  • Games going Multi-Platform
  • XBOX Live
  • Home
  • Upcoming games

It wouldn't be accurate to say that the sky is falling for Microsoft's one and only gaming console, the 360, but it may be time to look at what the company is doing right... and where it's going wrong. The Sony PlayStation 3 is beginning to chip away at the 360's lead in both software and hardware sales in the US, and that system only seems to be picking up steam. In contrast, the 360 doesn't seem to have much real momentum these days.

I agree with this, though the same thing happened last generation the PS2 sold in it's millions but once the Xbox came out that console gave the illusion of catching up to the PS2, it never did catch up, same here while the PS3 might sell 250,000 units a month to the 360's 210,000 the 360 is still selling 210,000 that means that progress is boringly slow for any console trying to catch up a 5 million unit lead.

Whilst your right about that, you have to remember that when you look at the consoles sold worldwide. Based on numbers from a previous one of my articles, the PS3 had managed to catch up to XBOX360 in terms of consoles shipped quite quickly (XBOX360 was around 14m, PS3 was around 10.8m and thats over a years difference in some regions).

Because I tend to find articles such as these, and I just can't seem to find any Pro-Microsoft article... why don't you start a blog, and create a Pro-Microsoft Article, then I promise you that unless you add it yourself, I'll be the first to submit it to GameGrep...

Would have been funnier if ITANI wrote it. Whatever happened to that guy? Writing for the New York Times I assume.

His skill set would lend itself more to the National Inquirer.

its actually a very good article and its all objective. Everything is proposed in theory and all the areas in question of being "weak points" are viable areas of concern. Personally, I feel like Microsoft has gotten way too complacent with "giving another PlayStation exclusive a new home." Somewhere in there they forgot to acknowledge the importance of first party support, both Sony's and their own. With all the exclusives Sony has lost, I feel like its already been forgotten with all the new exclusive IPs coming out. But, Microsoft still has the lead, so it will be interesting to see where the numbers are, going into next year.

Stop being an idiot ok. The only person at fault for those games is Sony being too caught up with the "We don't pay game to stay exclusive" garbage.
While they did take some exclusives, some good ones, Sony has manage to make brand new IP's worth getting and showing more headlines.

This article is in fact true, even though its just states the obvious.

Lol funny how Donnelly always has to comment about how Krunal submits news to gamegrep.
