Two Classic Characters Return For Resident Evil 5's Mercenaries Reunion

It's finally here, news and video of Far Cry 2's map editor in action. And it looks sweet as. Plus there's a great item and link to a really fascinating viral site based on Far Cry 2. You'd swear it was a real-world situation. Excellent work by the owner of the site.
You need to see the site to really appreciate the effort that has gone ito it. Plus the Map Editor is nothing short of brilliant.
Far Cry 2 is probably one of the most anticipated First Person Shooters coming our way this season. I know it is on the very top of my Must Have List. Many have criticized it and many may well be somewhat disappointed by it.
Not so much from the visual aspects or dynamic nature of the game, but from the slant the developers have taken with this iteration. No more deadly walking half-human creatures. Not Night Vision and super leaping powers, or catlike senses. No, just you and other human beings.

And what is wrong with that. IMO that is what made the old game fun, the fact the it was 12 mercs takin on a predator where the only way they could kill him is by powering up the generator. It definatley needs to be added for this game or something included in the map editor like on halo3 where you can change the speed of characters, give them special powers and change how they look. The Map editor looks *bleep*in awesome though and is quiet amazing at how simple it looks considering map editors like the cry and unreal engine on pc.
It seems this one is going to do just that. Having said that, I know there will be a huge number of gamers buying the game expecting monsters and bad-ass creepy things and night vision etc.
Mainly due to the fact they don't READ anything about a game, simply see a title and assume they know what it is about. This game will put a stop to the ppl that say the 360 can't handle graphics and that consoles don't have the ability to do decent map editors. The 360 and PS3 will far equally as well as the PC on this one.
They certainly have simplified the map editing process, that's for sure.
The engine has just been more optimised to work on a far wider range of systems.
But this looks awesome. I think i will get it, or at least check the reviews.
It shows a different level of the games that many seem to be forgetting. That it's NOT about monsters and oddities in life, but about the cruelty of life and how REAL people can be as calious and cruel as monsters at time, if not more so.
I don't thinks BlackLable was indicating the game had been "dumbed down" but more to the point, made to run smoothly across all 3 major platforms. Many developers can and do make thier games to run on far less memory and power on consoles than they need to do on PC's.
So they can experiment with them to a greater degree and extract even more visual and processor power. Such as Bad Company with its destructible environments. Not by using more memory, which is how they usually do it, but LESS by storing it in the cache and then feeding it back as you move back and forth in the scenes.
Having less to work with, but dedicated, has made developers look for smarter and more effective ways of doing their work, rather than relying in ever increasing rampage of power from the PC.
Just makes more sense. Cryteck already have a workable game of Crysis on the 360, had it earlier on actually, but hey, it wouldn't do well for them to say they had THAT level of game play on a mere console, when they were trying to sell it as a Vista Only PowerPC product that needed the ants-pants to run it.
Wuold ppl buy it (PC version IF they knew they could grab it for their $400-$600 console, certainly they would. Rather than spend say $2,000 - $4,000 on new hardware on their PC. Sure it moight not be AS great looking etc, but for a huge amount $ less, they get something very very similar.
Look at the Map editor and the visuals on that, the environments etc, they are all shown on the 360 version. So for those saying the console versions of Far Cry 2 are crappy and terrible looking, they obviously haven't REALLY seen real footage at all. They perhaps simply do not like consoles taking what used to be PC only titles and running them on the console market.
