Microsoft: "We Spy On You But Not As Much As The Government"

Krunal | August 20, 2008 | News | Company
We all knew that the government practice "Big Brother" at a wide scale, and it seems that Microsoft too have finally admitted that they do it themselves... and their excuse is
"But we are not as bad as the government"
For some reason that doesn't make me feel any better....
In a document for a House committee Microsoft has more or less admitted collecting data on its Web users. Redmond said that it began collecting data outside its own Web sites in 2006, when it launched a third-party ad network, and that activity accelerated after the acquisition of aQuantive in 2007.

Microsoft said that while it started by offering an "opt-out" option on all pages on which it serves ads starting in the Spring. Users were falling over themselves to sign up to give their data to Microsoft. Only 1,800 users had said no.

    Legally allows them to do this.

    Whats the worst that is going to happen? You are going to get targeted ads. Just get Ad-Block and it will solve all of your problems.

    Also- I'm not very fond of the wording on that sentence, it doesn't flow like a complete sentence- I feel like it should be combined with the next one with a , or a ;
