For those that don't know, a new trailer for Heavy Rain was shown today at the Games Convention in Leipzing, however it seems that not all were impressed by it. One person in particular - Jesper Sellerberg of the Kezins website, was definitely not impressed.

The biggest reason for the dissapointment? The games use of Quick-time events (QTE's).

Seeing the first actual gameplay of Heavy Rain disappointed me. The extensive use of QTE (quick time events), that so heavily burdened my experience of Fahrenheit, made a triumphant return in what could be considered the latter’s “spiritual successor”, albeit in a much more elegant presentation

What they showed was indeed lackluster; pressing buttons just to advance through what is essentially a cutscene is not fun.

RE4 and God of War were terrible right?

...that is so not what I meant...

But wasn't that basically what all of Indigo Prophecy was?

[Disclaimer: I didn't play too much of it; going on hearsay]

Yes, all the action sequences and some other events in Indigo Prophecy is played in a similar style. Heavy Rain reminds me more of Shenmue though. Anyway, I'm always happy to see developers try something new. Unique does not equal bad or even disappointing. We saw less than two minutes of the game. I think it looks interesting.

The thing is this guy doesn't know much i mean he seems like everyone else, they thought the game was just one big running quick time event which it is not. you walk with R2 you move her head with the left analogue stick i mean this game has all the 3rd person action of any other game, it just incorporates many other styles of gaming. This guy wrote that like he knew nothing about the game itself, yeah he may dislike QTE but this game is not all about that.

Which is why I said "what they showed", which wasn't much. So we cannot make any assumptions off of it.

Well if the whole game is like the trailer then will indeed be disappointing. But I assume it'll have much more gameplay than that, lets not judge to quickly.

It does, there are plenty of sites like IGN that actually saw the demo level which is not in the game itself, and the game is like any adventure game you can walk and interact with stuff, QTE doesn't even have to be used unless you are really bad at the game and get caught by stuff.

If it's anything like Indigo Prophecy, you will eventually have to go through some action sequences like that one. Besides, it looks fun anyways. Pretty much like doing the whole Krauser v. Leon scene in RE4...only easier.
