PSN cards not coming to Gamestop in NA til 2009?

If you NA people were waiting for PSN cards to be released at gamestop soon, then you might be disappointed. News has surfaced from a gamestop employee that its not going to arrive this year.
Lets take this as a grain of salt since there isn't any proof or statement from Sony themselves.

According to the email they received yesterday, GameStop will not be carrying PlayStation Network cards until next year because of a register software upgrade. Says StormShatter (verbatim):

.... one reason that nobody probably would've expected for that. Not sure how register software will have to do with selling these things, unless they're activated in-store, as opposed to MS Points cards, where there is no activation involved. Hopefully other major retailers won't follow GameStop's example this holiday season.

    This better not be true. This is *bleep*ing ridculious. I remember they said on the playstation blog that the cards where coming soon. That was 3 months ago!

    Have they not popped up in NA some time ago? I think it was at some sort of 'Fort XXXXXX' place?

    Would be total bull if they don't bring em out sooner. If it is true, Japan would have them for over a year longer than NA, and who knows how long it will take for the UK to get them >_>

      They're cards which you pay at the store when buying them so you can use the amount of cash you paid for on the Playstation network store. To purchase games or add-on's. I thought you knew that already?

      Also guys there's no official confirmation from Sony about this so this is more likely to be a rumor.

          It was possible its just Sony didn't make or release any PSN cards before except in Japan first.

    these should have been out at lunch what where sony thinking that everyone was 30 years old and has a credit card

      I was 20 when the ps3 came out, so I used my card fine, when buying of the psn store.
