Videogamer has brought us some brand new information from behind closed doors on Heavy Rain. You all saw the trailer with the murderer trying to kill your character. Well, Quantic’s David Cage tells what happens if you never got caught. He also explains that there are about 60 different scenerios like that. Many more details below and via the source about the gameplay, controls and some of the story.

We’re seeing a closed demo of Heavy Rain: Origami Killer at Games Convention. Quantic’s David Cage is walking us through a huge part of the game that continues on from and includes scenes from yesterday’s video demonstration.

First Cage has told us that you only control the head and shoulders on the character, you just press a button to move forwards.
The main character is investigating a series of disappearances and is going to the house of a taxidermist - hence the birds hanging in the ceiling in the video footage.
Everything in the game is context sensitive, we are told.

So essentially you are only pressing a button to move the character forward on a scripted, on-rails pathway, and you can only look around...

    Super-duper-epic failure.

No, the character moves in the direction you're facing. I thought it was on rails when I first read it, but an article on IGN cleared it up. The whole game is apparently walking around and context sensitive button presses.

There's not a lot of freedom to be had in that. It's basically just pressing one button and watching the character play out the scene without much further input. It really pulls you out of the experience to make you just feel like an observer; you aren't really involved really.

Yes, god forbid a developer makes a different style game today. Shame on them.

By moving forwards you then move the head to lookin that direction, this will cause the character to move in that direction after looking there first.

Well I didn't know Quantic Dream already had predictable traits...seeing as they've only created two games so far, so you must be either psychic or full of shit.

Out of ideas? It's a completely different game. Some of the gameplay is just handled in a similar fashion.
