(Square Enix) Parasite Eve 3 details revealed - "A true third person shooter."

Gothic Girl | August 21, 2008 | News | Playstation Portable
The latest issue of Famitsu has revealed some small details on Square Enix's newest game Parasite Eve 3: The Third Birthday. For fans worried about Square Enix's recent failed attempt to get into the Third-Person Shooter genre, project director Hajime Tabata ensured that the game won't be like their recent flop Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus.
We can only hope the gameplay goes back to Parasite Eve's classix mix of RPG and Third-Person Shooter.

Judging by the latest trailer footage, Square Enix's The 3rd Birthday looked like it might be a Kill Bill simulation. Thankfully, the latest issue of Famitsu came through today with hints at the true nature of the title.

According to project director Hajime Tabata, this PSP Parasite Eve sequel is going to be a true 3D gun action game. Noting that it will differ from Final Fantasy VII Dirge of Cerberus, he described it as a "true third person shooter."

Square Enix is working with another development studio on the game, Tabata revealed, without naming names.

Tabata also revealed that wireless play is being considered. He didn't state if this would be 'net based or ad-hoc, although it's worth noting that the aim for Tabata's other directorial project, Final Fantasy Agito XIII, is online-based play.

Finally, Tabata shared a couple of bits about the game's storyline and gameplay systems. These two areas are intertwined thanks to something called "overdrive," an ability that crosses time. Aya, the hero, uses this ability to both look into the mysteries of the game's enemies, the Twisted, and to fight them.

While stopping short of sharing an actual release time frame, Tabata did state that the game's scenario and design are nearing completion.

I've only played Parasite Eve, and only for a few days. This installment looks good, and yes; hopefully it won't play like DoC does.

I'd like to see the RPG/shooter characteristics integrate seamlessly with each other, in my opinion something that Dirge of Cerberus didn't fulfill.

Boooooo. It sounds more like PE2 than 1, which is depressing. That seemed good and all, but the original was just godly for me. Aw well, if this ain't my thing I'll just play that again.

Or maybe Squaresoft went mad and changed so much that the game went from one of the best games they ever made to a complete pile of crap. And you have no taste.

She's not exactly a new babe either. She's been around since the mid-90s. XP
