When speaking to Videogamer at the 2008 Games Convention in Leipzig, a question popped up asking if there is any chance we may see a console version of StarCraft 2. How much chance is there? "Very close to zero", Blizzard said.

Frank Pearce, the Senior VP of Blizzard, said "It's not something we're specifically planning for right now. The development team is working on the game and the interface with the PC and the PC interface peripherals in mind."

The chances of upcoming PC and Mac RTS StarCraft 2 coming to console are "very close to zero", Blizzard has said.

Speaking to VideoGamer.com at Games Convention in Leipzig, Germany, executive vice president of product development and Blizzard co-founder Frank Pearce said that a console version of the hotly anticipated StarCraft 2 would be "a different experience" on account of the speed of the game.

In recent years EA has begun bringing the popular Command & Conquer series to the Xbox 360, and a number of high profile console exclusive RTS games are in the works, including Halo Wars and EndWar.

This question has been asked many times and Blizzard always gives the same answer. Why would anyone want to play SC on the consoles anyway? It's like playing with a handicap compared to the PC.

Because there are people that don't have the PC's with the necessary requirements but have the consoles needed? I understand PC gamers' point of view on "their" genres, it's just that THEY have a problem understanding just about ANYONE else's point of view.

I've played console RTSes before, like C&C3, LotR and even SC64. Hell, I'm actually looking forward to Halo Wars too. It's just that Starcraft's user interface is much more complex than a made-for-console RTS. If you dumbed it down(like they did in SC64), it wouldn't be SC anymore.

Doesn't really matter either way. You're not getting it for console, but other people are. You're happy and they're happy without any words being said...why PC users have to stomp on console versions with unprovoked assaults when they're never needed is beyond me.

It does matter, which is why Blizzard isn't porting it.

They apparently don't want to dumb down the game either.

No no, that's not what I mean. I mean is that, if you're not interested...then it's really none of your concern in the first place. Blizzard, however, have a say in it because they have to alter the game in order for it to work on the console. Whether THEY want to alter it or not is up to them. PC gamers like you all you have to do is wait for the game to come out...that's it.

It's really hard to understand why you're bothered with the game coming out on consoles, it ain't bothering your experience AT ALL, so you have to wonder as to WHY people even complain in the first place.

A pity but expected. I'm sure they'd be a rebellion of Koreans if it came to consoles.

Actually, I'm sure the Koreans would like this idea, if the game actually did come out on consoles, I'm sure Blizzard would make Battle.net 2.0 compatible with consoles too.

So the Koreans would be getting free wins.

But then for them the game would be 'noobified'. One of the main reasons they play it so much is because of the amount of skill needed to win. Still it could go either way.

Oops, I meant that PC users would probably be able to play with console users. Meaning the PC-using Korean gosus will be stomping newbs cross-platform.
