Too Lazy to Grind? Buy Your Levels with This Tales of Vesperia DLC

Akira_EX | August 22, 2008 | News | XBOX 360
Well, it looks like Namco Bandai is at it again. News of Tales of Vesperia's downloadable content has hit the internet, and boy is it a doozy.

So, how would you like 5 levels for 200 Microsoft points? Or maybe an even better deal: 10 levels for 300 Points? Or maybe you're short on cash... how's 300,000 Gald for 300 Points sound?

Scamco's holding true to form.
Once again taking a page out of the PC MMORPG playbook, Namco Bandai is pulling out the DLC. Previously, Namco Bandai made mountains of cash with the DLC for Xbox 360 exclusive THE iDOLM@STER by selling various outfits and accessories for the virtual pop idols and doing it endlessly. This time around, the company is offering more than weapons and armor. Instead of grinding through to level up, the game's DLC will let players buy their leveling up. Need extra gald in-game currency? Buy that, too! Here's a short sample:

LV Up +10 (1) 300 Microsoft Points
LV Up +5 (1) 200 Microsoft Points
300,000 Gald (1) 300 Microsoft Points
Skill sets 80 Microsoft Points
HP Recovery Cuisine Recipe Set 100 Microsoft Points

Holy shit!!!! LMFAO Well, I can't really blame them and would do the same. People can be suckers for DLC. And I know there's been a few times where grinding through 5 levels blew.......but still this wouldn't be for me.

Good idea. It's a good alternative to hours of grinding. Just so you can beat a boss.

It'd be nice to have crippled achievements though. So if you do this you can't get full credit for the game. Unless you use a different character.

Oh yeah didn't think of the achievement aspect. That's a good point.....how do you verify those that play, versus those that pay?

No idea, I guess if you skip levels. Since there doesn't seem to be one that allows just plus 1 level.

I'll never say this again, but I think this is a fairly good idea.

Grinding is boring and in previous Tales games there has always a boss that you have to beat in order to exit an area, such as the Guardian in Asgard ( ToS ).

I prefer grinding, but I could see where some may not like it. Grinding gives me a sense of accomplishment.

I'd agree with an mmo. However, with a single player game. I think the need to grind is more of an issue with poor pacing.

Well different tastes I suppose. I like grinding out on all my games really.
