FFXI 18 hour boss cut down to size

Silver Mirror | August 23, 2008 | News | PC Playstation 2 Company
Recently Square Enix implemented a new boss into the MMORPG Final Fantasy XI. This boss Pandemonium Warden was almost insanely powerful and many clans claimed to have fought the thing for hours without success as evident here.

However hearing the community's plea's Square Enix have said they are planning to make alterations to the boss. So anyone looking to have a South Park World of Warcraft like battle will be disappointed.
The past two weeks have seen considerable feedback from players regarding the amount of time required to combat the Pandemonium Warden, a recently implemented Notorious Monster (NM). Discussion has spread significantly throughout forums, and it has become apparent that this is indeed an issue of major unrest in the community.

We would like to assure players that the development and management teams place a high value on their feedback, and the issue has since been taken under serious consideration. Together with Absolute Virtue, it has been deemed that the combative techniques for weakening these NMs are too difficult. As a result, some players have engaged these enemies using unanticipated methods which led to extended battle times. It is by no means the desire of the development team to see players involved in encounters that require an excessive amount of time and effort to complete. It was for this reason that previous measures were put into practice which prohibited NMs from being held in battle for prolonged periods. In response to these events, we have determined that further alterations are required to prevent such battles from exceeding a certain predetermined length of time.

hhahahahah he it was owning people that bad,, hm?

i think toning it down is lame. the only RPGs worth playing are the ones with the boss that you'll never defeat. even if its an mmo.

Well FFXI is definitely your MMO. There are plenty of INSANELY strong monsters in that game. Some can take up to hours to kill.

As an Ex-FFXI player I can definitely say its no MMO for somebody with no time in their hands, it will take up much of your life. It's a VERY difficult MMO to play and many of the players/clans are extremely competitive for these special monsters/bosses. Most WoW players I've talked to who've tried FFXI out said they pretty much shit in their pants at how difficult the game was compared to WoW and went right back to WoW haha!

I've helped take down many of these baddies, but after looking this one up, I have to question how the hell anybody could possibly beat it. 10 Transformations and it spawns a shitload of minions to help it, each minion with 25,000 HP?

Obviously the devloper wont like that.

Theres no point in wasting your time if it just makes players fustrated and can potentially be a health risk for some crazy players who stay up 18 hrs striate trying to fight it and then end up dying(in-game)
