The focus of DoW2 seems to be to allow you to continuously progress and never have to restart or replay a mission. Plus they made a ton of cool enhancements which I saw first hand at GC Leipzig.

But if you lose it you don’t have to go back and do it again, there’s no more need to replay a mission over and over again. You will keep all the experience and the items that you found in the mission which is cool.
