PS3 Controller Keypad Priced

tekmosis | August 27, 2008 | News | Playstation 3
Amazon has a price up for the wireless PS3 controller keypad attachment. The price listed is a painful $49.99 USD before taxes.

In a poll done by ps3fanboy only 4% of 8174 people said they would be willing ot pay $50 or more for the keypad.

I think the best solution would be for Sony to allow USB keyboard support which you could then get a keyboard for $5 and save yourself $50 in the process. Way to go Sony.

Update: according to user comments the PS3 can already support a USB keyboard. I underestimated you, Sony, my bad.

Wow, that is a lot just for a keyboard. I know I certainly wouldn't get it. Hopefully it will come down in price though.

I think a better solution would be to have options, for Sony to release a wired keyboard for $5 a wireless bluetooth for $15 and then the controller one for however much.

Really? I did not know that. Can you use it with games as well or just the web browser? I'll have to edit the news post to reflect this new info.

If I recal correctly, yes you can. It can be used for chatting, messaging, web browsing and in-game.

Yep, both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 support USB keyboards.

I use a USB keyboard. I might get it. It would save a lot of space on my table. I got the one for the 360. I write my messages in text usually so it's better for me.

wireless logitec keyboard is 80 bucks. One with touch pad and everything. Cheap usb keyboards can be found for 20 ish bucks. But i'm sure the quality will be nice.

Looks uncomfortable. The 360 version is better designed.

Same thing me (and others) said about it in the other article....They had to use the miniUSB thing at the top, so yeah.....My idea was to 'hook' it around so the keypad would be at the bottom, but meh....I can sorta see this working, if you shift your hands up to around the mid-point (to where the keypad and controller meet)....

      Total rip-off, this thing, IMO....

Which is surprising since it's a Sony product.

It's overpriced, poorly designed, clunky, and positioned wrong. Sucks really. I'll get a USB keyboard, kthxbai.
