PSP 3000 has 20-30 Minutes less Battery Time

Sony has said that the battery life of the PSP 3000 will be reduced by about 20-30 minutes, because of the brighter screen. The PSP extra battery pack isn't being discontinued however, and it will have 8-10 hours of power time.

The difference between the original PSP, and the PSP 3000, is that it has a brighter screen, possibility of using a PS3 controller (rumor), a built in microphone, and a change in the home button.

Speaking in a recent interview, Sony Computer Entertainment America product marketing manager John Koller revealed that the battery life of the PSP-3000 will be decreased by 20-30 minutes, due to the larger power draw of the brighter screen.

Battery life will decrease by a small amount, it’s about 20 minutes maybe 30 minutes and that’s because there’s a larger power draw with the brighter screen.

    I don't understand why they couldn't have increased it say by 1 hour at least to give us more of a reason to buy it. What is is adding tbh in my view is nothing special and for this to come along just gives me one more reason not to get it in comparison to the first model I currently have. Kinda let down here =[

      I have to agree with you, in fact I find this model more of a ripoff then anything. the PSP-2000 was enough stop with this BS.

    Here is an update from Playstation.blog .
    Sony marketing manager John Koller says the battery will last the same amount of time as the current PSP model.

While the enhanced screen of the new PSP draws a little more power, our engineers in Japan worked to reduce the power consumption of the overall system including its components, so you won't have to worry about losing any time when enjoying the more vibrant visuals displayed with the new PSP.
