Man Pleads Guilty to Killing Baby Over Videogame - Gets 21 Years in Prison

On October 26th 2007 Rene Edward Barrios was supposed to watch his 18-day old baby, who was sleeping. When the baby started to cry, interrupting Barrios when he was playing an unknown video game, he hit the baby. Once the baby stopped crying he went back to his game to play more, and once he had finished the level, the baby was blue and unconscious. The baby died in the hospital, and Barrios was arrested right there. He only killed the baby because he interrupted his game, scary stuff.
We love our videogames as much as the next guy but there's a point at which other aspects of life supercede their importance.

Unfortunately Rene Edward Barrios didn't feel this way on Oct. 26, 2007. He was left to watch his girlfriend's 18-day old baby who was sleeping in a bed. Rene was playing an unknown videogame in the next room when the young baby began to cry. Enraged by the noise, Rene paused the game, grabbed the baby, shook him and hit him the head.

With the baby asleep, Barrios return to his game and finished up whatever level he was on for about 10 minutes. When Barrios returned to the bedroom to check on the baby, he was blue and unconscious.

    It's dicks like these that put video games in a bad rut in the news and government. Now I will sit back, get something to drink, and wait for some senator/governer/anything looking for 5 minutes in the spotlight to bring this up.

    It's a shame......I live pretty close to where this piece of shit did this.....I hope he gets the full 21.

    BTW it was NOT his kid....he was living with the mom and kid and was her boyfriend but not the baby's father.

    OMG, 2nd news stroy I've seen. Something JUST like this happened last year also, but the guy thrashed the baby and Choked it since it pulled the controller out of the console. (a Xbox, not 360)

    Also, The man pleaded guilty. I believe since he did, He is getting a DP or LS (death penalty or life sentence)

    ...Glad I don't care about the noises on Video Games, I would of went over to the baby to see if it needed a change or see if it was hungry.

    I do believe he got off WAY too easy for that one. Should've been at least Murder 2 where he could've served 15-to-life.

    What kind of twisted *bleep* of a person can you be to punch an 18 day old baby just because it did what any baby does? Cry to get attention for something. I'm not one for the death penalty but people like this need to get the hell off the face of the Earth. We'd simply be better off without them.
