A scan of a WalMart advertisement showing an Xbox 360 Arcade system for $199 makes it official - the 360 will be the first of the new gen system to break the $200 price barrier.
As we had previously reported, thanks to the good folks over at Wireds Game|Life blog, and as Kotaku has pointed out here (among other posts), there has been more and more information leaking about the newest price cuts for the Xbox 360. It seems that as early as this coming weekend, the Arcade version will sell for $199, according to Walmart (as shown in the above scan of the ad starting this Sunday, September 7), and based on the other reports, the 60 GB Pro will retail for $299, with the 120 GB Elite rounding out the group at $399.

I really can't wait to get a 360. Hopefully this isn't just a deal on wal-mart's part but it is everywhere too.
It won't be long before the head of Microsoft's gaming division is on one of those car dealership commericals where the guy is yelling, "WE'RE SELLING 360'S SO CHEAP, WE'RE PRACTICALLY GIVING THESE THINGS AWAY !!!"
Manufacturing cost is only one factor - generally, the better the games and online assets sell, the more MS will be willing to take a loss on the console hardware itself - because it will be increasingly made up for by software sales.
At $199 I think that the Arcade is going to be flying off store shelves for the next six months.
